This weekend update keeps getting pushed back further and further. It’s getting to the point where I can’t remember what I did to even write it down. Maybe self hypnotism is the cure. Imagine a waterfall and only listen to the sound of my voice. My voice is calm, soothing, gentle. It wraps around you like a warm blanket, and in it you feel totally secure, like a baby in swaddling clothes…

Friday night Katie and I went to see Pineapple Express. I think too many stoned people in the audience ruined the movie. I really wanted to like it, but after seeing it I don’t know what to think. Anyhow, after the movie we went to dinner, which was sometime around 9:30 or so. With this going to the gym stuff, I get up at 6:30 AM and I get to the point of exhaustion by 11 PM if I’m lucky. Anyhow, after dinner, I pretty much went to bed.

Saturday, we woke up and watched some of the olympics, and eventually made it out to Sam’s club for some stuff we needed to pick up. Afterwards, we slacked off a little bit before we went to the Baseball game. It was a little sprinkly throughout the game, and these two older couples sat in front of us. It starts to lightly mist, and these 4 douchebags pull out fucking golf umbrellas, totally blocking out my view. Seriously, I can only make out the top of the scoreboard over these umbrellas. I’ll upload a picture of it. While I’m texting someone about it, they start to put down their umbrellas and one of the guys is like “It’s just sprinkling, I think we can take these down” and the woman looks back at me, sees me texting and says “Oh, he’s not paying attention anyhow” Eat a big steamy pile of my greasy shit and die in a fire. After the game, We got home a little late and again, went to bed early.

Sunday morning we went grocery shopping and picked up a few other things. I went over Dave’s house to drink beer and eat pizza, and we watched “Yor: Hunter from the Future” and “Deadly Prey”, two movies that were so bad they were decent.

Monday was work and then slack, and today I went to the gym again. After work, Jason and I are going to go to Lift to see their Munny show, and Hopefully they have the Kozik Murder Dr. Bomb, but I’m doubting they will. Plus madden comes out today, so I’ll be spending money on that. yay!

An overdue update.

I haven’t forgotten to write, I’ve just been a little busy. I’ll recap my weekend.

Thursday night, I went out to the bar with Chris and a few other people I used to work with. It was fun, beer was cheap, and thankfully I had the next day off of work because we closed the bar that night. I was especially happy I had the day off the next morning, because I think I probably would have had a hard time making it in at a reasonable hour.

Friday night, Katie was out helping her sister with the babies, so I went with Raz over to Dave’s house and we had a little 3 person GTA fest. We ended up playing some races with another group of people for a few hours, and one of the guys had this easily mimic’d voice, so We had fun with that for the rest of the night. I ended up driving Raz home and then I had to drive back home, so I was on the road for about an hour before I could crash into my bed.

Saturday night I met up with Dave at Tim’s house and we were supposed to watch a movie, but we ended up playing Soul Caliber 4 and Mario Kart and drinking beers. Another late night.

Sunday I went out to the cottage and did my favorite thing in the entire world… WATCHED GOLF ON TV! YAY! Other than that, chilled outside and took a ride on the neighbor’s boat for a little bit, which actually ended up being fun. I got some crazy bite on my arm that is red as hell right now, and I’d love to scratch the shit out of it, but it hurts when I do, so I’ll have to just leave it alone.

Monday after work, I had my first appointment at the gym with my trainer. He kicked my ass. I got a little dizzy for a minute because I didn’t eat what I was supposed to before the session. The guy seems pretty down to business, which was difficult, because I like to joke around a little bit, and he wasn’t having it. Maybe next week it’ll be a little better. He gave me a bunch of homework to do for next week, so hopefully I’ll be a little better prepared. I wasn’t as sore as I was last week after my freelance workout. I couldn’t really move my arms much last wednesday and had to actually leave work. I thought by going home and crying in bed it might make my arms feel a little less useless. I was sadly mistaken. After about 2 hours with the heating pad on my arms helped loosen them up.

Tuesday, after my workout, this time I was a little sore, but nothing major. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it to the gym, but I made sure to get up bright and early today and went before work. I sweat my bag off, but I felt good after I was done. I plan on going in tomorrow before work too. It’s a nice wakeup.

I don’t feel any type of “high” after I workout, but when I miss a day, I feel guilty about it. Maybe that guilt is enough to keep me motivated.

Oh, and I just started a giveaway at my site, so if you’re interested in possibly winning a 12 Inch zombie figure, check it out at here – it’s free to enter, and requires no obligation.

Stuff about a weekend.

I have a feeling that during the summer here, the weather forecast default temperature is 82 degrees. I just checked the 10 day forecast and it’s entirely different than it was yesterday. I mean drastically different. Whatever.

My weekend went a little something like this: Friday night, Raz came over, and we played GTA IV online. We played for a while between the two of us, and right before we were about to log off, a bunch of people joined. We massacred them and they all logged off. I got to bed around 4am.

Saturday, Katie and I went and saw Step Brothers and it was unfunny. It wasn’t unfunny because of lack of trying, it was that they tried too hard. It was just the same jokes for an hour and a half and swearing just to swear. Afterwards, we went and I did something I never thought I’d do… I joined a gym. I had been looking around at gyms to see which one would fit what I wanted to do. The opportunity came up to join Katie’s gym for the same price that the other gym I was considering, so I decided I’d probably be more motivated to go if I had a gym buddy to go with.

Afterwards we went home, had some lunch and went out to this “art show” in Orchard Lake. It was basically just an art fair on this college’s campus where you have to pay 6 bucks for parking and then you walk around and look at stuff that you probably wouldn’t want hanging in your house. Afterwards, we came home, Katie went out, and I stayed home and watched the EliteXC event on CBS.

Sunday, we spent cleaning the house and going to the cottage for dinner. I’ve mentioned before that I don’t really like going there. It’s boring. How long can you sit around and either A) Watch Golf on TV, B) Get put to work, or C) Sit around and do nothing. It’s not like I can bring a book or something to read and relax by the lake because the second I do that, someone’s going to interrupt me.

Monday I went to the gym. I did a short workout because I’m out of shape and I want to take it slooooow. Today my arms hurt so bad. I only did two arm exercises but I tried to lift too much. They feel fatigued when I walk with them down by my sides. Not good. I want to not go to the gym today, but that’s not going to help me get in shape, so I’m probably going to suck it up and go after work. I’m just reading about what to eat before and after a workout. If anybody has any tips on good all in one solutions to pre and post workout nutrition, let me know.

I also am on the verge of FINALLY finishing GTA IV, so I got that going for me.

Where’d you get those eyes?

If I have to hear “Jeepers Creepers, where’d you get those peepers” or the Kill Bill whistled song one more time, bad things are going to happen. Very bad things.

Another Monday has arrived, and alas, another weekend has passed.

Friday, I went over Raz’s house and we watched Night of the Living Dead. It’s been a while since I saw that the last time, probably something like 6 or 7 years, if not longer. I got burnt out on that movie and couldn’t watch it for a long time, but it was almost refreshing to watch it this time. I picked up a lot more on the social commentary that Romero was trying to infuse into it. After the movie, Raz and I played GTA, and just blew up cars for 3 or 4 hours. Sometimes it’s just fun to do that for a while. I got home really late, like 4:45am, and for some reason it took me until 5:30 to get to sleep. I woke up at around 10:30 Saturday morning, and had to get ready for…

Summerfest. I had been told for years that Summerfest was actually called Lakefest. You can imaging my shock and horror when I found out the true name of this stupid drunkathon that I had been going to each summer for the past 3 years. Anyhow, after I got over that, I drank about 8 beers or so until I got bored doing that and started falling asleep. Unfortunately, no one would left me fucking fall asleep, so I sat awake, with my head bobbing into another world while fireworks bursted over my head at 10pm. When that was finally over, I passed out in the car, somehow made it into bed and slept until around 11am Sunday.

Sunday I woke up mostly refreshed with aching kidneys, took a shower, and went with Katie to see The Dark Knight. I was pretty surprised that it was as packed as it was at the theater on a Sunday morning at 11:40. There was this massive group outside the theater, and I thought it was a line, but it ended up being a church group. Why there was a church group hanging out at a movie theater, I have no idea. They weren’t even there to see a movie, as far as I could tell. They were just loitering outside the theater making it hard for everyone to get inside.

GET OUT OF THE WAY, fuck. I hate when people stand in the middle of the flow of foot traffic in a group. They just stop and stand there and stare at each other in the middle of this stream of walking people. Like stupid rocks standing in the middle of a river, causing bottlenecks and rapids. Eat shit and get out of the way.

Anyhow, The Dark Knight was great. I really enjoyed it a lot. I was surprised at some of the story elements, but I really enjoyed it, and would actually like to check it out in IMAX. After the movie, Katie and I went to get lunch/dinner at a mongolian bbq type place in Northville, and to target and bed, bath and beyond looking for a lapdesk for our new laptop. After that, I relaxed the rest of the night and vegged out.

super computer and microchip

So…  Let me tell you about my weekend.

Not much has happened recently.  The weekend was fairly boring.  Friday night when I got home from work, my new laptop was waiting for me.  I ended up setting it up and slacking with it all that night.  It’s fun for me to fuck around with a new computer for a while, checking everything out for the first time.

Saturday, I texted a few people and called around to see if anyone wanted to see Hellboy II, but I ended up going to the movie by myself for the first time ever.  Now I can say that I’ve finally eaten at a restaurant by myself, and seen a movie all by myself.  I was really excited to see Hellboy, and I wasn’t disappointed.  Whenever I go to the movie recently, I’ve been going either in the morning, or right near noon.  When I get there, I end up analyzing the parking lot to figure out how many people are there, and in my head I try to figure out if they’re trying to see the movie I’m seeing.  Saturday the parking lot was pretty full (I parked 2 spaces from Jason, but I don’t think he noticed I was parked there), so I thought maybe everyone was seeing Hellboy, and there were a few people I had pegged.  One person I did not have pegged was the middle aged woman who came by herself and sat down 2 seats away from me.  I couldn’t tell if she was really into the movie, or if she was just one of those people who are bored and see a bunch of movies.  Overall, I really enjoyed the movie, and want to see it again.  It was definitey on par with Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk, in my opinion.

Sunday, I headed over Dave’s and drank some Lienenkugel Summer Shandy, which is this Weiss with Lemonade, but the lemon taste was a little overpowering after the first two beers or so..  We ended up watching another Peter O’Brian film – “Rambu” and Diary of the Dead, which was ok.  It was a little better than Land of the Dead, but I was hoping it was going to be a lot better.

A weekend of vinyl

so, I’m gonna talk about this weekend. It’s a short week and it’s making me lazy.

Friday night I went over raz’s and watched The Street Fighter with Sonny Chiba. I had seen bits and pieces of it before, but I hadn’t ever sat through the thing in it’s entirety. I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. After that Jenny wanted to watch another movie, so we watched some movie about atlantis that I can’t remember the name of, but I didn’t enjoy that nearly as much as I thought I would. It did have some good elements, but it was ultimately ‘meh’.

Saturday, Katie and I went out to Vault of Midnight, and I bought the Frank Kozik Lime Sherbert Dr. Bomb figure that I had in my last post. After we got home, we cleaned the house a little bit, and then I went over Jason’s house to chill. We went out to Lift and I bought the Kozik Blue Glow in the Dark Dr. Bomb who is 8″ where the Lime one is 10″, yay! I also talked to the owner who has a Kozik Redrum 8″ dunny that he said he’d sell me. I’m waiting to hear back from him to see when he’ll have it in the shop. Afterwards, we went out to dinner, and hung out and played Smash.

Sunday, I went to the Tiger game and afterwards went over to Fred and Carrie’s for dinner. Had a few beers at the house and ended getting home at around 9 or 10. I stayed up a little late watching the Louis Theroux Wild Weekend shows about Pornography and one about Wrestling.

I also got some Richard Ayoade and Matt Holness show “Man to Man with Dean Learner” which is a spinoff of Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace… I heard it’s not great, but I’ll have to give the first few episodes a good watching before I decide.

How was your second bowl?

I got a haircut today, and there are a million little grey hairs all over my shirt.

The heat has finally let up, and it looks like it’s going to be a nice couple of days, until it rains again.

Jeremy is going to be coming out this weekend. We’re going to our 3rd annual Tigers weekend. They’re playing the Dodgers, and I hope they can win the series, that would be refreshing.

I finally got a new writer for the review site, so now I’m up to 3 full timers and a part timer. I’m going to be giving away a limited edition (1 of a run of about 200) poster away sometime in August. I need more readers though.

I can’t think of a title..

I don’t want to go back to work today.  I just want to be lazy and stay home.

I haven’t written about my weekend, so here I go with that first off.

Friday.  Friday.  Friday.  Friday.  Friday, Raz came over and we watched 2019 After the Fall of New York, which I mentioned in a previous post.  It wasn’t as good as I expected.  Overall it was average.  It was a lot like Escape from New York, except they snuck into New York and then they Escaped out of it.  It was also a lot like Children of Men, because they had to rescue the last fertile female in the world, I guess.  It wasn’t really explained if anything existed outside of New York, so I’m guessing that New York was the big deal.  Afterwards, we played some GTA online and were able to kill a Rockstar employee, so we have our Zombie player models now.  I was really looking forward to getting the zombie model, but now it’s not as cool as I hoped it would be.

Saturday, we somewhat celebrated Katie’s birthday because her sister was in town and she wouldn’t be able to join us for her actual birthday.  We ended up cooking on the grill at her parents house and we had cake and all that stuff.  After that, I watched the debacle that was Elite XC on CBS.  That was some bullshit.  I can understand that Kimbo Slice is their big fighter, because he’s a “huge internet sensation” and they want to hype him up, but that whole event was just bullshit.  It was a really sad way to introduce MMA to the mainstream, because they were all shitty controversial stoppages, except for the Gina Corano fight, which was really good.  She’s always really good and entertaining.  Anyhow, it was garbage.

Sunday we did some shit that was totally unmemorable, because I can’t remember a thing about it.  I think I ended up starting the season of Hell’s Kitchen, because I haven’t watched an episode of it yet, and they’re all on my DVR.  I think we pretty much lazed around all day.  I was going to call Jason or something to see what was up, but I didn’t… because there was something we were supposed to do, but I’m totally blanking on it.

Extending this into the week… Monday I moved into my temporary office, which was nice.  It’s quiet and I have a lot more privacy and an actual door.  Since the new manager started he’s kept me pretty busy.  I don’t report to him, but he’s having me do a lot of work to get him acquainted with the office and the procedures.  Even though he’s from our East office, they still do things a lot differently there.  It’s a big change for him I’m sure.

Tuesday was Katie’s birthday, and she was happy with the custom Hello Kitty dunny that I had Jenn do for her.  We’re actually gonna try to do some of our own now that I’m a little more familiar with the process.  I took the day off and she wanted to go out to the casinos.  First we went to the MGM Grand and she won about $100, then we decided to leave while we were ahead and went to the Motor City Casino where I won $20.  I’m glad we went to the MGM first, because that was so much nicer than Motor City.  Everything was nicer, from the Parking Garage, to the setup, to the tables and machines themselves.  Motor City had this blue and orange flame carpet, and all the machines and tables were nasty looking.  A lot of the machines were really old, and they just didn’t seem to be updated very well.  Near one of the bathrooms I smelled something like gasoline, and as I walked closer to the bathroom it turned into a urinal cake smell.  Yum!  I almost went stir crazy trying to leave the parking structure, because all the signs were conflicting, telling you to turn left to get to the exit, then the signs would disappear, and then when I turned around it told me to turn right where I had already turned left previously, it was stupid.

Anyhow, after dinner last night and cake again, now it’s today, and I have to get back to work.

Oh, and I picked up American Elf by James Kochalka.  Even though the forward is by Moby, it might prove to be a decent book.

It’s been a while.

I’ll start off with what I can remember from the weekend.

Friday I left work early so I could take Katie to pick up her car from the dealership. She had some belts replaced because her car sounded like one of those old cars in the cartoons, wheezing and sputtering down the road. Afterwards, I went and saw the Tigers lose to the Twins, with Mark and Ruairi. After the game was over we went to Motor City Brew Works, off of Second street near MLK Jr. drive. I hadn’t been there before, but they had really good beer. We met Fred there and he gave me a slice of pizza, which was also pretty good, even though it had mushrooms on it.

Saturday I went over Dave’s and he and Matt and I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull(s?). I thought overall it was a good an entertaining movie, in the same vein as the others in the series. I thought Harrison Ford looked really good considering he’s 65, and Shia Labouf(sp?) did pretty well too. I think he’s a decent actor, despite what most people I know think of him. I had a few complaints about the movie – mostly the overuse of CGI where it didn’t really need to be. The whole jungle scene was pretty ridiculous. My feeling about Indy movies is that they never needed to rely on CGI to make it believable in the past, so did they just do it to do it? Just to be flashy? I also don’t think I’d be complaining too much if it actually looked good. Most of the CGI looked really weak, which I was suprised with considering the FX were handled by Lucas’s own company. Other than that, I think it was a good addition to the series.

After the movie, I stayed over Dave’s and we eventually ended up watching the Tigers, Pistons, and the Red Wing games that were on that night. After banging around on Rockband for a little bit, I headed home.

On Sunday I went to make a transaction for part of Katie’s birthday gift, which turned out excellent. I was a little tense about it, because the timing was crucial. Afterwards, Katie and I went to Carrie and Fred’s for a cookout they were having. The food was good, and I drank more beers than I care to count (mostly because I lost count somewhere after 5 or 8 or something) and I sat nearly comatose in the passenger seat on the way home. Needless to say, Monday morning was rough.

Monday, we went and saw Prince Caspian, which was ok but not as good as the first movie. Afterwards we relaxed for a little bit before going over my parents house for another cookout. I ended up cooking burgers and bratwurst over there, and we ate outside. It was a little warm out, but nice enough that sweat wasn’t dripping into food, which is nice.

Yesterday we ran to IKEA to pick up some more shit, and a rollerblind for our front bedroom which hasn’t had a shade of any kind for at least a year and a half. When Jeremy comes to town, he’ll be happy to know that there’s a shade up.  I also caught up from issue 1 of Invincible, and I’m almost up to date with The Walking Dead.  I’m thinking of starting a pull list from my local comic shop, but I only have 3 things so far that I can think of that I’d like to read, and I don’t want to look like too much of a Robert Kirkman fanboy, so I need to broaden my horizons a little before I do that.

Weekend update a day late.

I’m a little late with the weekend update because I was pretty busy yesterday and didn’t really get much of a chance to write much. The weekend was as boring as every other one.

Friday night I went over Raz’s house and he and Jenny and I watched Death Warmed Up. It’s a futuristic type horror movie about a doctor that reanimates the dead and it makes them psychotic. It was a hard movie to review. The problem with it is that it didn’t really make a whole lot of sense. I liked the parts of the movie, but I didn’t like the whole of it. That’s a first for me. Usually I can say “Oh this movie is awful, but I liked the scene where that guy’s head exploded”, but I don’t know if I’ve ever said “I liked the scene with the brain surgery, and the scene where the motorcycles chased the group through the underground tunnels, but boy that movie was shite!”

Afterwards we played GTA for a while, and we had to fix some problem with Raz’s router, because we could hardly ever connect to a game. We’d sit in a lobby by ourselves waiting for others to join, but no one would ever join. You’d figure on a Friday night there would be thousands of people playing. We finally got that fixed at about 2:30am, and we played for about an hour before I headed home.

That brings me to one part I dislike about GTA, and that’s the way the multiplayer is set up. I like the multiplayer gameplay itself, but I don’t like that you have to load your game and then select multiplayer from Niko’s cell phone which in turn loads the multiplayer portion. When you’re done with a match, let’s say for instance a race, and you decide “I want to play deathmatch instead” you have to leave the game, which then loads your single player game, and then you have to bring up the cell phone again, then launch another game, which again loads the multiplayer lobby. Imagine if you wanted to play a race, then decide you want to play deathmatch, then cops n’crooks, then mafiya war… That’s loading 8 times, which while it only lasts about 30 seconds, gets tiring after a while. Maybe you can do it a different way, but I haven’t really paid enough attention to get it right yet.

Saturday was pretty uneventful. I installed a new dryer vent from our basement, because our old one was pretty drafty, and we had the new one laying around the garage for a while. I used some spray foam sealer generously around the opening, and it seems to be holding up pretty well. After that I played some more GTA, and watched an HBO boxing after dark card that was pretty entertaining.

Sunday, Katie and I went out for lunch and went to Best Buy so I could get Boom Blox. Eventually, we went out to Ikea, and I bought another shelf to display my vinyl on, and some other odds and ends that we saw there. We ended up watching The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe that night because neither of us had seen it and we were somewhat interested in seeing the new one. I also got some new (to me) music, including “In Ghost Colours” by Cut Copy, a David Axelrod compilation, Justice of the Unicorns “Angels with Uzis“, a few albums by Mew, and some other stuff.

Monday, after work Katie and I went to Barnes and Noble, and I picked up the latest copy of 2600, a wok cookbook, Black Hole by Charles Burns, and Tricked by Alex Robinson. I have Alex Robinson’s “Box Office Poison” and really enjoyed that, so hopefully this one is good too. It seems like the only books I finish reading are graphic novels. I’m also looking into getting some ebooks in the near/immediate future.

Weekend Update: Wendy’s edition.

Ok, so please share your opinion of this situation with me…

Wendy’s has the option of when you go there, instead of fries, you can get a salad, a baked potato, chili, or whatever. If you go to Wendy’s and order this: “Can I have a #1 with a coke, and a small chili” Would you expect to get your burger, fries, a coke and a small chili, or do you think it would be interpreted as you wanting just a chili instead of the fries?

My wife went to Wendy’s to pick up her dad some lunch, and that was what she told them in the drive through. She told me when she got her order, she didn’t have fries, and let them know that she didn’t get fries with her order. They told her that they were sorry, but if she wanted fries, they’d have to charge her for a small order of fries because she didn’t pay for them. She told me she expected to get them for free, and I told her that because they didn’t charge her for them in the first place, she shouldn’t expect to get them for free.

Who is right?

Now for the weekend update. Friday, Raz came over and we started to watch the movie “Dead and Buried”, but he got sleepy head and we decided to play GTA IV online instead. We played with some people from Fark.com and he ended up leaving around 2:30 in the morning. I unfortunately ended up playing until 9 am saturday morning. I told myself at 9 “wow, I’m not even tired” and I tried to watch some shitty tv to occupy my time while I waited for a few hours to pass and for it to get to a reasonable time. Yeah… that didn’t work out to well and I ended up nodding off a few times before I finally went to bed at 9:30.

I woke up at 2:30 in the afternoon and played a little more, and waited for Katie to get back from grand rapids. Her and I did some stuff that I can’t remember and Jason ended up coming over that night. We played GTA for a little bit and then I showed him drumming on Rockband. I hadn’t played in a few weeks so I was a little rusty, but was able to finish a song or two on hard without failing miserably. Jason gave it a go and didn’t do too bad for his first time. It’s fun to watch other people play the drums in that game, because it requires a lot of concentration. Sometimes I just get overloaded with all the notes coming down the screen and have to wait until I can catch my rythm again before I start back up instead of painfully flailing along trying to catch the beat.

Sunday, Katie and I went shopping because we were going to grill over my parent’s house. It rained pretty hard all day, so we had to walk in the rain a lot from the car to the stores, and if it weren’t for my rainproof jacket, I would have been pretty miserable… Thanks rainproof jacket!

We ended up grilling hamburgs and having quite a few left over. That’s probably what my lunch will be today. We got home a little later and I finished watching Dead and Buried, and started writing about it.

Today I had to be in at exactly 9am to make some routing changes on the phones and got that taken care of. The day is creeping by now, and I’m trying to convince myself whether or not I can cut the grass after work 🙁

Another weekend.

This weekend was fairly uneventful. Friday, I saw Raz, and he and Jenny and I watched and reviewed Zombie Nosh, by Bill Hinzman. Bill Hinzman was the original zombie in the cemetery in “Night of the Living Dead”, and he played the main zombie in Zombie Nosh. Speaking of Zombie Nosh, that is the most ridiculous title for a zombie movie that I’ve ever heard. It was a pretty decent movie, all things considered. I have a lot of stuff to review coming up, and not a lot of time to do it. This is the time that I need more writers, and I do have a few offers.

Saturday, I helped Katie clean the office, and afterwards we went and saw “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”. That was a pretty good movie. I liked it more than Superbad. I still think the best movie to come out of that group of writers/directors/producers is the 40 year old virgin. That night we watched TV together, and I watched Conan the Barbarian on showtime around Midnight or so.

Sunday, Katie went to a wedding shower, so I stayed home and watched the best cheese action movie I’ve ever seen, “Hands of Steel”. While it’s not the most action packed or fast moving action movie I’ve seen, the ridiculousness of it all really made up for it’s shortcomings. Basically it’s about a cyborg in the future that’s programmed to kill an environmentalist leader, and has a change of heart at the last second and only punches him in the gut and ruptures his spleen. Then he runs away to a bar/inn in the desert and arm wrestles truck drivers. yeah…

I also started up a myspace page to try to promote my website. If you’re interested, hit me up at myspace.com/internalbleedingnet. I’m going to see if it leads to any additional traffic to my site. So far I haven’t seen a single hit, but these things take time, I’d guess.

Weekend Update – Illinois Edition

I went out to IL this weekend, and left somewhat early Friday morning so I could get out there and be able to hang out. I went out to visit Jermie and go and see the Tigers play the White Sox at U.S. Cellular field in south Chicago on Saturday.

Driving there wasn’t too bad. He lives about an hour and a half south of Chicago, so once I got to Chicago, I still had quite a ways to go before I’d get to his house. He lives in Bloomington, IL – which I find to be a pretty interesting place. You drive down I-55 and it’s just farm land and on both sides of the expressway dotted with truck stops and fast food restaurants at each exit. That all changes when you get to Bloomington. The exit I got off of is pretty nondescript, but you go down veteran’s highway for about a mile and a half and it’s like an oasis in the desert. The main street is 6 lanes in the middle of nowhere and there’s a billion little businesses all over the place. It’s pretty crazy.

When I got to Jermie’s house he hadn’t got there yet from work, so I sat out in front of his house for about 15 minutes or so waiting for him to get there. While I was sitting out there, his neighbors were passing, and some old lady came out and disappeared after giving me some weird look. All I could imagine were the cops pulling up next to my car asking me what I was doing, thinking I was casing the neighborhood. Me, sitting there with my crazy beard, just waiting outside someones house… That’s not suspicious looking at all.

When he got home, we went out and got some lunch and drank a few beers. After that, we went back to his house and Julie was home with Liam, so we hung out at his house for a while, and Julie went out so we watched Liam till she got back. We ended up going to BW3’s and watching baseball and drinking some more. There was some loud obnoxious chick that sat next to me at the bar, that screamed in my ear my entire time we sat there. We got home, and I was exhausted so I went to bed. I didn’t end up sleeping very well and woke up pretty early on Saturday so that we could go to the game.

We drove out to the game and the weather was shit. It was 39 degrees and rainy as hell. I knew it would be cold, but I didn’t think it would be that cold. The game was fucking horrible. The Sox pitched a no hitter for 7 1/3 innings and the Tigers ended up getting shut out. A nice “De-troit Sucks” chant started up and it was pretty miserable so we ended up leaving to take shelter in the car and hopefully warm up. I fell asleep on the ride back and was starving. When we got back, we ordered a pizza and played rockband till pretty late, drinking beers and Seagram’s. I’m getting my confidence back on drums and finished my first song on Hard that night.

Sunday, I had to psyche myself up to drive the 5-6 hours back home. I left at about noon and made pretty good time at about 5 hours and 20 minutes. It was pretty uneventful, and it seemed to go by pretty quick, especially considering it was such a long drive.

I really dislike driving back into metro Detroit. The entire drive through Illinois, Indiana and most of Michigan you’re driving down 2 lane highway. Almost everyone recognizes that you use the left lane to pass, and you get into the right lane when you’re not passing. The closer you get to Detroit, (noticeably right near Ann Arbor) the more that whole fucking concept breaks down. You eventually get to the point where nobody fucking knows how to drive, society degrades completely and everyone drops 1/2 a chromosome. I shouldn’t have to pass on the right. If you’re not going as fast as the person behind you and there’s no one in the right lane, GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY. On the flip, if you see someone coming up the left lane coming up upon you at a rapid pace, and you’re in the right lane, don’t just pull into the left lane at your same rate of speed if you’re going to pass someone. Either slow down for a second and let them pass, or speed up and so that they aren’t swallowing their teeth because they had to slam on the brakes.

Last night I went over Jason’s and played some Super Smash Bros. Before that I was playing more rockband on the drums. That was a humbling experience. Remember a few days ago where I said I could probably tackle hard mode? Yeah… I’m now getting spanked on medium. Just when you think you’re all keith moon and shit, you see some pattern that short circuits your brain and you have no idea what you’re supposed to be doing. I’m sitting there pounding away, plodding along, then all of a sudden I’m in the twilight zone and I forget where I am and start spazzing out just trying to recover a beat. Sadness. It’s all the kick drum that fucks me up.

I also placed my preorder for the collector’s edition of GTA IV, so I could get the cool metal lockbox, duffle (duffel?) and what not. I’m really looking forward to that.

Two days until I go to Chicago to visit Jermie. The weather is supposed to be shite, so hopefully that hold out for the weekend. Otherwise it’ll just be like I’m home and it’s shit outside. I want to try to make it out to Rotofugi, but I don’t know how willing he’ll be to do that. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m sure I’ll be back out there this year so maybe I can just go then.

I’ve also been trying to branch out and join some discussion boards and what not. I’m usually content just reading that type of stuff, but I really want to promote my blog and what not, so it’s almost something that I have to do to get the word out. It’s not going so good with the traffic situation lately, so hopefully this will help. I’m averaging about 25 hits a day, and I really think I can do better. Maybe I just write for shit, but if that’s the case, no one will tell me for whatever reason. It’s confusing and frustrating at the same time.
